Java 8 Lambda and Streams Update

With Java 8, the long awaited Lambda expressions and methods references have finally become part of the Java programming language. For the first time, these new language resources allow for the use of abstractions in Java, which had previously been reserved for functional programming. This often leads to simpler and more compact Java source code.
To allow the new language options to be implemented immediately, the collection framework has also been heavily adjusted and expanded. The biggest change at this point is certainly the Stream API, which allows collections to be viewed and processed as a consequence of elements. Since all stream operations can be executed serially or in parallel, entirely new options in terms of performance programming have emerged.
With such a broad range of uses for the future, no Java team should put off expanding its relevant knowledge. Not doing so could prove a costly mistake, as with the introduction of Generics with Java 5.
The course conveys the new language concepts of Java 8 as well as a brief overview of the major new APIs with deployment recommendations and practical exercises in a compact time frame.
