The streaming platform Kafka was originally developed by the social media service LinkedIn for high performance, low delays and large data volumes. The application areas of Kafka are messaging, storage and streaming. Kafka offers solutions for problems of conventional messaging middleware, such as the re-reading of messages that have already been received. For the realisation of microservices, Kafka offers itself as a powerful event bus.
In the seminar, concepts and features such as publish/subscribe, compaction, replication and partitioning are introduced and demonstrated with short examples.
